Sea level rise and other climate change impacts are already affecting our communities. Preserving undeveloped, low-elevation upland spaces so our critical coastal marshes can naturally migrate inland is one of the single most effective strategies we have to buffer storm surge, reduce erosion, and ensure Barrington’s long-term resilience. Tom Kutcher, Wetlands Scientist with the RI Natural History Survey, and Jen West, Training & Engagement Coordinator with the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve, invite you to a collaborative working meeting to review priority conservation parcels in Barrington and discuss strategies and funding sources to secure these vital migration pathways. This follow-up meeting will build on your community's previous and current resilience efforts and localized SLAMM (Sea Level Affecting Marshes Model) analyses. We have also cross-examined documents such as Barrington’s Municipal Resilience Program Annual Project Identification & Resilience Update and the Town’s Comprehensive Plan to ensure that all efforts contribute to Barrington’s broader resilience goals.
All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
This notice is issued due to the potential for a quorum of the public bodies listed above to be present. However, no separate official action will be taken by those public bodies. Members of those bodies will simply be participating in the noticed public forum.
